Experience prior to JRS
Steve graduated from Anglia University in 1996 with an Honours Degree (2:1) in English Literature. From 1997, Steve worked for the Legal Aid Board (now LAA) as a Lead Assessor, undertaking audits at legal aid firms, to ensure compliance against the several quality assurance standards, including the SQM, and all LAA contractual requirements.
Previously, he was a Quality Auditor, undertaking file audits, as well as being a means assessor, undertaking complex assessments for self-employed legal aid applicants.
JRS experience
Steve works closely with numerous firms across the country, assisting with the demands of regulatory, quality assurance and contractual compliance, including the tendering process for government contracts. Steve has conducted hundreds of mock audits against the SQM and Lexcel standards, as well as file audits (across all areas of compliance, including for annual LAA Contract visits), with an exemplary track record.
Steve is proficient in drafting all compliance documentation, including all policies, plans and procedures required by law firms to attain and maintain SQM or Lexcel accreditations, and comply with the SRA and LAA Contract requirements.
Outside of JRS
Steve has a passion for all sports, including football, cricket and rugby union. He also enjoys reading and writing novels, poetry and plays.
